Split Phase Induction Motor 60 HZ
The Split Phase Induction Motor 60 HZ trainer is designed to teach the principles of the auxiliary resistive phase motor or split phase motor. In this type of motor, there is no capacitor. The phase shift needed to start the motor origins from the windings resistive and inductive properties. The auxiliary winding is made of thin wire. We recommends opening it after a few seconds. Starting current is about 4 at 6 times the nominal current. This motor works like a capacitor start motor at its normal operation speed. This kind of motor is needed for low power, low inertia and low starting frequency applications. The main winding, the auxiliary winding and the centrifugal switch provide separate 4 mm terminals on the housing. Specifications and/or diagrams are silk-screened on the back of a clear-plastic front panel for ease of identification. The trainer is protected by a either a diode or thermal-magnetic circuit breaker. Requires a 120V 60Hz circuit.
